So far today I have decideed on more expensive RAM and a more expensive PSU, so now I am debating on whether or not the X800 is worth the extra $40.

What do u guys think?

Sapphire Radeon X800 NP 128MB from xtremegear -$202.18 (final price, let me know if you know where to get this card outside of CA)

or

eVGA 600GT from monarchcomputer -$163 final price

Thanks for your time.

I assume you are gaming? If so, I would geexpensive RAM and a better video card (x800xl). If those cards are your only choices, read a few benchmarks. I assume that each card has its own strengths and weaknesses, though I assume the x800 is best overall. What game do you play and what resolutions do you consider acceptable?

These are my only two choices since I am on a tight budget or else I would be getting an 850XL

I plan to game, that's all this rig is for, but it's a budget gaming rig. I'm lookin for bang for the buck as I got from the system in my signature.

I'm lookin for 1280x1024 performance since that is my LCD's native resolution.

I've looked at a few benchmarks, most are for 1600x1200. I'm gonna assume that the X800 is at least 20% faster than the 6600GT @ 1600x1200, but is the performance gap that big at 1280x1024???

That is my predicament.

prob. 6600GT since you are on a budget.... and since the performance is actually quite fine on a 6600GT.. they're great cards, and eVGA is a good card maker.

My evga is a great performer. I can easily run CS:S at 1280x1024 2x2x over 80 FPS. Of course, I am OCed quite a bit as well. I have the AGP version if it makes a difference (probably not).

The only diff with the AGP version is the RAM runs at 900MHz effective, while it runs at 1000MHz effective on PCI-E.

OCing the RAM is no big deal though... Mine OCs to 1194 before artifacts start. Of course I am using a Zalman vf700. Even with the stock cooling, I know I could get up to 1100 or so.
