6600gt and my CPU !!!

I have a 6600gt running with a 2.4ghz P4, very old chip got it when it first came out !!!!
I have a gigabyte mother board GA-8IG1000 with 1gig of ram and a HD with a 8meg buffer. I am just curious as to wether it would be worth upgrading my CPU as i am sure this would be creating a bottle neck for my new video card !!!
Any help would be great !!!

I would say even with a GPU intense game like HL2 that makes heavy use of shaders... your 2.4 P4 is probably limiting it. It's a 400 MHz FSB model, correct? If your motherboard isn't capable of using an 800 MHz FSB with dual channel memory, I wouldn't bother upgrading just the processor.

yeah if you are running anything < the 800MHz FSB model, just upgrade your whole system.
get a new A64 system with a PCI 6600GT, and you will be SET for the next 2 years with all of that upgradability.
