I just finished scavaging my wife's brother's old computer which I built for him a few years back. I wanted to turn it into a HTPC and run games using another Xbox 360 controller and wireless PC adapter I got for a steal at CC for $39.

The system:
MSI K8MM-V
1 GB Corsair VS
AMD 64 3000+ 754
nVidia 6600GT AGP

Results:
720p Video - runs good
1080p Video - choppy not viewable
GRID Racing - absolute crap
CS:S - runs at med/low settings

I tried to upgrade to a Radeon 2400pro I got for $49 at CC but the computer wouldn't post when I installed it. That kinda pissed me off.

Anyone have any ideas for upgrading this system? And no I'm not building a new system. My wife will kill me if I build a 3rd gaming system since I already have a dual core w/ 8800GT and another dual core w/ 3850.

I just want to be able to run 1080p and maybe some newer games that I can play with my Xbox 360 wireless controller.

GRID is heavily dependant on CPU (just like DiRT was).

If you are on AGP you kinda are stuck.
