do these cards? or all cards? or all mobos? or all power supplies have safeguards, that let you know if the current video card isn't getting ample(no pun intended) power? I read someones query a few minutes ago, that eluded to the fact that his computer told him at start up that the power was insufficient? This question is in relation to my computer, I have a rather generic power supply, and I don't really want to upgrade(shes always been good to me) but I do not want to plug in a new Video card and find out that well.. it fried.
 
that can be summed up by saying, "I want a new video card. I'm not sure if my power supply can handle it, or if it will harm the new card." so much for brevity, or even clarity.


i dont think it would fry your card, but stuff might stop working properly. exactly what brand/wattage of power supply is it? what card do you have in there now?
