I read somewhere that the AGP version of the 6600gt was not expected until Q1 05... if thi is true does anyone know when the x700xt will be available for AGP??? If I have to wait that long i might as well get a 9800 pro and overclock to xt levels...right?

no idea on the timeframes guv, but yes, yes 2 the second part- from the benchmarx i've seen on THG and anandtech it seems 2 make sense 2 me 2 get the 9800 pro now- and be playing hard for the next XX months until those kards are avaliable.

Esp. since prices for those parts will be skyhigh, and availiability next-2-nothing..whereas the 9800 prices have don all the falling they are going 2 do for quite a while (IMO- diclaimer always neccessary these days if u don't want 2 get flamed), case in point- look at ti4600 prices even today-if u can find them.

Last I heard the AGP for the 6600Gt was end of Oct, and Dec for the X700. But these are just rumors so who knows. As for me I'm in the exact same situation. I don't want to pay $300+ for a card but I don't want to step back and get a 9800pro for a price close to what the 6600GT will be at.

seems like a waste to me, buying into an agp version of the 6600gt.. as this card's strongpoint is the sli capability, which obviously will not happen on AGP
