have a 450w psu. my 2 hdd's and 1 dvd writer are on a separate psu. the 450 is dedicated to the 2.4 prescott and 6600gt 128mb AGP card. but i still get a message in xp saying that it will slow down the card because it isn't getting enough power. should i try and ignore this by installing coolbits and manually forcing the core speed, if its possible at all. thought i'd ask before going ahead.
i've tried drivers 71.xx 77.xx and 78.xx.
there is also this ga-ga readout from rivatuner... 900mhz core??

Obvious question, but you have ensured the second PSU has sufficient load on all its rails to work properly?

the hdd and dvd writer are running fine on the second psu. that would not interfere with the power supply of the 6600gt which is the only thing attached to the 450w psu, besides the mobo.

Did you plug the 4-pin molex cable into the 6600gt? I'm assuming you did since you said it's dedicated to the 6600gt.

Can i ask why you need 2 power supplies for a system like that??

I'm guessing since you never disclosed the brands of the power supplies, that they are probably 2 generic units.

Why don't you ditch the 2 of them and buy 1 good quality power supply? I'll bet your issues will end there.

the 4-pin molex is in.
2 psu's because till things work out i want the 6600gt to get as much juice as it can.
the psu is a 450w x-tech good quality psu.

It's the uhhh "stellar" VIA chipset that you have causing all the trouble IMO.

There is an issue with some VIA boards that if you don't use the Microsoft supplied AGP GART, you are basically screwed. The 4-in-1 HYPErion's won't help. There should be a thread about it somewhere in this forum.
