I found a 6800 GT really cheap (sorry Dug and fellow 6600GT people, were can still look out for eachother!). Do I need to reinstall drivers?

Yes, you have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them when changing cards.

Drivers shouldn't need re-installed, but make sure you uninstall the 6600GT from the Windows Hardware Profile first.

No, to install properly, current drivers need to be uninstalled. Then install latest driver from Nvidia's website. You and some other folks around here got lucky. You probably do not have the full potential of your 6600GT and not even realize it because ANYTHING is better than a 5200 even when its working half a$$ed. :)

no i pretty much have the most potential out of my card, its not like i had the oldest drivers in the world before i switched.. i kept them up to date... anyways the drivers coming from my cd were older than what i had already

No u dont have to reinstal drivers when u switch from one nvidia card to the other, generally sometimes u will have to but thats when it will not configure properly.
I have interchanged quite a few cards like fx5700 to fx5200 and back without touching the drivers etc. Its usually good to uninstall the drivers before changing cards but its not as serious as most people say it is.

I was forced to re-install when I installed a different 7900GT CO (same card I had in before) - the only difference was the card's bios revision... so I say yes.

i'd just uninstall and reinstall. i made the mistake of just unplugging my geforce2 and putting in a geforce3 and my comp was getting messed. reinstalling the drivers helped. period.

and dug, i can be your friend and look out for you now! ^_^

I had a problem switching the same cards. What happened to me was that Windows still had the 9600 Pro as being installed, removed it from Hardware and all was good after a restart.

??? i think he should uninstall the drivers he has now and use the latest ones from nvidia or some IQ/performance optimized drivers, like the xtremeGs...

If you're talking about things like Vsync and AA settings then yes, you will.
You will also lose your overclocks too. Ad what I meant by manufacturer's drivers is the drivers that are the CD that you get in the box. It fixed some of my problems.
