What's weird about the card?

If you are referring to 256mb of memory, these have existed since 6600GT first launched, especially in AGP flavor.

If you are referring to GDDR3 memory, once again this has also always existed, though manufacturers can also put DDR memory on (I don't personally believe the product should be able to be designated GT in those cases though).

If you are thinking nVidia is the actual card manufacturer of this card they aren't. This card is made by a company called Diablotek, which would appear to be a subsiduary/brandname of Palit (the pictured card and accessories are identical to the expertvision 6600GT's I utilize, only the box art is different).

More details here

Perhaps my posts in the other thread woke some US retailers up?

Not unless Palit is an A-Open subsiduary.

The Expertvision and Diablotek cards are identical down to the heatsink label. Manual is the same, cables are the same, discs are the same (would be interested to know if the Diablotek includes a free game "Second Sight" that is StarForce protected). Only difference is the box art.
