Im gonna open a LanHouse/InternetCafe/Sports-Bar(all in one) sometime soon...

Ive been cheking prices and trying to get the best performance/price config for my pcs
I think im gonna use like 10-12 gaming rigs and 5 internet rigs

Im a regular/pro gamer for years, so i think i know what to cut or not to cut while building this Pcs and...of course price is an issue :)
Im still deciding wether i should build a s754 or a s939 platform... s754 is cheaper but looking at s939 is more future proof...
the basic config is this one, and every other component is the cheapest possible, but of course i want it to run the latest games like COD2, BF2, HL2, DOOM3, QUAKE4, UT2004, CS Source, DOD Source, WARHAMMER 40k, etc... and some classics like Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne, StarCraft, Q3,etc...

heres the basic config
CPU-Athlon64 3000
MEM- 1GB DDR400(Value RAM)
HD- WD 40 GB 8MB CACHE IDE
MONITOR- 17" CRT~
Display Card-Gainward 6600 GT 256MB
The final price is sitting at aprox 1.100 USD(i know its expensive, but im near SouthAfrica, some hardware here is alot more expensive than in your countries...hell a 7800GTX is 1000 USD here)

So considering the price difference between a 6600GT 256MB and 6600GT 128MB wich is about 75 USD over here...
I cant find any bechmarks running the 256MB version, so i cant decide... considering that games need more RAM this days, and i prolly want most games to run at 1024x768 real smooth... The problem is ive read somewhere that 6600 isnt capable of using above 128MB... so i dont know wich one is faster and if really the 128Mb is enough...at least for today(what about later?)
Considering im saving/spending 750-900 USD in total costs between the 2, what u guys think? what about going s754 or s939?

I would reconsider the 40G harddrives and use at least 80, if you want to install all games...there shouldn't be a big price tag between anyway...
For the 6600GTs I'd go for the cheaper 128...have it myself and don't think there will be much of a perf-lag if future games "really" utilize 256...

Yeh, gotta agree with Doctorweir, my mate runs a small iNet/ games cafe in smallish UK town. Would go larger than 40gb as he has HD space issues with 60gb systems....

Also, imo the 6600GT 128mb is a great card!!! :) I have one and all the latest games run very smooth on high settings.

GL with your games cafe though...

Humm... thanks... your right about the storage capacity... games this days take up to 5gb a game(considering maps and patches)

Considering you guys didnt answer the s754 s939 question...guess s754 is out... i could save a bit with s754(going sempron 3100, etc) now but later could be a problem for upgrades... what you think?

So heres the final gaming rig:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+(S939)
Gigabyte K8NF939
KingMax 1GB DDR400(Value)
WD 80GB 8MB Cache IDE
LG COMBO DVD/CDRW

JetWay 6600GT 128MB PCI-E
A-Open Optical 800 DPI
Portuguese Keyboard
Genius HS04A HeadSet

BC 300 W ATX CASE(Front Audio and USB)
LG 17" CRT 700SK BLACK

Im a bit worried about having PowerSupplys that come default with a case...my past experiences with it were not good! what do you think?
I guess this config is allright and sits at 1024.31USD per rig...

Definitely 939...maybe you can save yourself some more money, if you change to an ASROCK / ULI board instead (Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 S939 ULi M1695)? It's like 55EUR over here...incredible price/performance.

300W PSU is definitely too low, maybe not for your current spec (if quality PSU), but most likely in the future...

Do you have a good dealer with discount when you buy all those boxes at once?

just go cheap as possible for RAM i reckon, by headsets do u mean mic/earphones combo? if so cheap out on them aswell my mate gets em for £2.50 each over here, QTEC PSU r good for budget 500W = about £12, prob worth sourcinf case and PSU seperate coz in the cheapest cases the PSU is poop trust me!!! :)

i'd choose 939... 3000+ OEM + cheap generic HSF... and u probably dont need RW on all machines!!! just put em in ur 5 inet units make the games machines normal DVR/CD combi.....

ps sry bout the currency English national so no idea about prices in $
