I am putting together a HTPC for my 50" plasma screen, in which i intend to also play games on. I will want to play games as close to native resolution as possible (1388x768) with AA/AF enabled. Since this is a HTPC, noise is an issue and fanless 6600's are available. So my question is, should i get 2 6600's to run in SLi or should I just get 1 7800 GT? Which will be better/faster? Keep in mind if i get the GT, i will need to install aftermarket cooling.

Thanks,

Matt.

a 6600sli is about as fast as a 6600gt/6800nu. a 7800gt is about 3 times faster than a 6600gt.

You could try to grab the Asus 7800GT silencer. but passively cooled cards needed to have good air flow in the case or else they are indanger of overheating. Id say 7800GT with NV5 silencer. Or even SLi :) but at those resolution, i think one would be just fine.
