6600 or x600xt?

I'm building a rig for a friend, who isn't going to do too much gaming on it.
I was considering one of the two gpus.
Both are almost the same price, with 128mb, pci-e. So which one should I take? and if you have some benchmarks it'll be nice. Thanks.

btw, for almost the same price I could get the x600pro, but I figured the xt is better anyway (I think...) so I didn't bother asking...
And also if you other ideas for gpus OF THE SAME PRICE RANGE then feel free to mention them.
I am on a budget here, so don't want to spend more.

i think the 6600 would be a fair bit faster, an eight pipe cards vs a 4pipe card...very important that it is 128-bit too...

6600 no doubt, the core will OC a lot and will easily kill the X600XT.

You're comparing the wrong cards. A Geforce 6600 will cost you at least $100. YOu can get an X700Pro for $99 at Tigerdirect. I believe the X700Pro will trample the 6600. It was also recommended by Anand in his last buyer's guide.

I thought the 6600 beat the x700...well either way, they're close enough so it wouldnt matter (unless you'd prefer to have Sm3 or not)

The x700 is faster than both of those and is just as cheap.

The X700 wins seven out of eight games, a few of which are by pretty big margins.
