6600 GT vs. X800

I payed $399 for a VisionTek X800 XT at Micro Center. They had 6800 GTs and an X800 Pros for $320. The GTs were sold out though.
The 6800 GT usually beats the X800 Pro, but not by much. But the X800 has more compatability with older games.

6600GT and X800 are in two different classes . . .

better off comparing a 6800GT to an X800 or a 6600GT to an X600

X800 should be slightly faster than 6600GT. But where can you buy an X800?

X800 has 400mhz core and 12 pipelines and GDDR3 heavily underclocked to 700mhz. 6600GT has 8 pipes at 500mhz but 1000mhz memory that somewhat makes up for the slower core.

I'd say, ecxept if you're playing Doom 3, the x800 would be more than slightly faster than a 6600gt, especially if you plan on using AA or AF. Read AT reviewhere

There is no such thing. Maybe you mean the X800SE? The new one is the X800XL and is faster than the X800 Pro.

Actually I do remember reading about an "x800" nothing else.
but I don't know what the specs on it are.

I dunno man, I think the 6800NU is still lower than the X800... but I'd need to see some benches which I am too lazy to look up. the 6800GT does not whip the X800, it just beats it sometimes. the X800 either puts up a good fight and comes very close, or loses by SOMETIMES a decent margin. (doom3) but overall the X800 compares more with a GT IMO.

No, ATi has also announced a MSRP$200 X800: 110nm, 12 pipes, 128MB, 256-bit. Looks nice compared to a 6600GT--if it ever arrives in volume. For now, you can find overpriced 256MB X800s at NewEgg and the like. Beyond3D recently reviewed a Sapphire X800 256MB.

6600GT PCI-E & X800 PCI-E have the same MSRP - 199$.

The difference will be similar to the one, we have seen while comparing 6800 & 6600GT.

In performance

1. X850XTPE
2. X800XT(PE) or 6800U(E)
3. 6800GT
4. X800XL
5. X800Pro
6. 6800NU
7. X800SE
8. 6600GT
9. X600 and below (X700 is not being launched remember and remember the 6600GT still crushed it)

Also remember Nvidia still has to release their refresh product.

u forgot the 6800 GTO fitting in just below the GT 🙂
in Nvidias range that is, dunno how it performs compared to the X800Pro or XL tho, but its better than X800SE by a long chalk..........
(stock settings GTO in 3ghz p4 with 1gb RAM and 7,200rpm 80gb HDD with Audigy 2 gets 9,780 on 66.something drivers on my puter)

edit: just in case, GTO isnt a Dell only product, there are some others floating around, ocUK has it out on single buy retail.

4-5. 6800 GT ($316 for AGP 128MB)

That's the ASUS V9999 "GT". This is a card with a 6800GT core (16 pipes, 350Mhz core), but the RAM of the 6800NU (128MB, DDR1 at 350Mhz). It does NOT perform as well as a full 6800GT (especially with AA/AF, where it becomes bandwidth-limited), but is somewhat better than the 6800NU. Please be careful when posting prices that you have the right product.

You can get X700pro boards now, its the x700XT you must be thinking of.

Ditto. That's an overprice pos.
