6600 GT questions

Hi, im really looking into the 6600GT for my system and I only have 1 agp 8x slot, I know the 6600 GT will work on it but ive been hearing about a bridge.

1. what exactly is a bridge?
2. does it allow the card to work on both pci-e machines and agp 8x machines?
3. if i bought a 6600 gt for my rig now (agp8x), then upgraded to a pci-e x16 mobo then would i have to replace the card and get a pci-e compatable one? or are the all just 1 card but uses this "bridge"

thanks in advance!

1) I am not up on the technicalities of it; I just know that somehow nVidia's PCI-E cards weren't "native". They needed the bridge to somehow translate the signal from PCI-E to AGP.
2) No.
3) Yes, you would.
