A couple questions for the folks with 6600GTs turning in '05 scores above 4400: this is edging towards the realm of 6800GT scores. Since it seems most of the folks turning in these types of scores have nicely OC'd CPUs also, I'm curious how much impact the CPU has on these scores. Could you rerun your tests at stock (or at least less OC'd) CPU speeds?

2) How much noise is your setup making?

3) Finally, I'm curious how these compare in real life with 6800GTs that cost $120-$150 more. I expect that at some point the 6800's wider memory bus starts to show?

but after ocing a 6800 gt ....you'll widen the gap once again...shouldn't compare score of a oced 6600 gt to a stock 6800 gt

Don't forget 6800's overclock too. Next weekend I'm hooking a Zalman VF700 up to a BFG 6800 GT AGP with a 3200+ Vience. I'll report back with some results, I'm hoping for 440 core/1200 mem and 5600-5800 marks.

By the way, my computer is loud like no other. Seriously it sounds like a jet (Delta 60 dBA fans). But, I also have a nice set of Kplisch 5.1 speakers so I really don't mind.

6800 gt w/ a stock cooler wouldn't go that high (440 core)
when i had my 6800 gt w/ a nv silencer....i could only do 425 max

Thanks. Yeah, I knew the 6800GTs could OC also but since noise is a big peeve of mine, I figure there's probably no way I could quietly cool an OC'd 6800GT without doing water cooling. I've been down the 55-60dba road and got tired of it after a few years so now I'm running a Sonata. :)

just been doing sum quick OCing of my Leadtek 6600GT.... using the coolbits mod and then manually changing the core / mem through the nvidia display >> advanced....

On stock cooling according to NvTempLogger i am still at 32C... have to check 2 c how much load has changed !!!

Neway i got up to 4100 (was 3600 before CPU and GPU OC!!!!) on 3D Mark 05... @ core = 579mhz mem @ 1090mhz.....

anyways i can improve this???
