650W for GTX 480 and GTX 470?

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before, search is down for me :-/

Anyways, one of my friends is upgrading to the 7970 and he's offered to sell me his gtx 480 for cheap. Right now I have an i5-2500k paired with a gtx 470 on the asus p8p67 pro, which does fine in the games I play (and I only have 1 monitor at 1080p), but the deal is almost too good for me to pass up. I'd like to run both cards at once (I know I can't SLI them, but I want to be able to run CUDA programs on both cards). The only concern I have right now is that I have the Corsair TX650, and I'm not sure if the power draw is going to be too much if both of the cards are fully loaded. I have a feeling it will be close, and it sorta kills the deal for me if I have to upgrade my PSU as well.

tldr: Have gtx 480 and gtx 470 -- is the TX650 good enough to run both at the same time?
 
TX650 doesn't have the necessary connectors to power both cards. You would have to use molex to PCIe adapters.

Guru3D GTX470 & GTX480 review. They use ~210W and ~250W at full load, respectively. 460W combined, add ~150W for the rest of your PC and you'd be using >90% of your PSU's capacity.

To estimate load power consumption of the whole system another way: Anandtech 470 SLI review. 579W in Crysis. GTX 480 would use 40W more, but they're using a more power hungry CPU, so you could say that's pretty accurate. The CPU isn't stressed anywhere near its maximum power consumption in Crysis.

While Corsair TX650 is capable of continous output at full wattage, it's generally not advisable to run a PSU so close to full wattage. A good rule of thumb is <80% during load, to be safe.
 
That's a little too close for comfort for me, and about what I had figured. I have enough molex to PCI-e connectors since they come with the cards, but I don't think I will be doing this, at least with my current PSU.

I have a GTX 470 and it runs fine on my antec Neo eco 520W... I have 5 hard drives, a wireless card, and a sound card.And a Core i5 2400.

It runs fine.
 
Ugh, those cards suck way too much juice for that PSU. I wouldn't run that configuration without at least a quality 750w PSU.
