Ok, ihave a 6509 that is not detecting 5 modules(1 WS-X6316-GE-TX and 4 WS-X6348-R21). I'm thinking in reload the supervisor and in worst case recycle the power, but maybe this doesn't resolve the problem. Any suggestion?

Have you tried to pull then re-plug the modules?

If that doesn't work, I'd recommend a full cold boot. It's a big hit, but if you're down 5 modules, you could only have two active ones, in any case.

A 6509 is a Cisco switch. A biggun (6500 series, 9 slots).

The modules are blades full of ports.

Big bucks.

FWIW

Well, all of the modules are getting power, I turn it off the whole chassis and turn it on back and those 5 modules are still not detected. The switch
detect 4 of the 9 modules. What I'm thinking is the software of the supervisor need to be update to an newer version. Garion what exactly u mean
when u said that you could only have two active ones, in any case?

I believe you're right, you probably need a code upgrade, especially if the switch has been around a while, and the modules are new(er).

I think what Garion meant was that if you had five modules down, plus the (probably) 2 supervisor blades, that only leaves two blades left working.

What code version are you running now?

According to Cisco (www.cisco.com), the minimum recommended software is 6.2(2), and the recommended is 6.3(3a).

Here's the link for the Martix:

Product and Software Version Matrix

You may want to check the revs for all your blades, in case some of them need a higher rev than 6.2/6.3.

Good Luck

thanks a lot, can i ask u 1 more question Scottmac?
When u bought a new switch, router, etc. and u take too the smartnet, the reseller it's supose to give u the service contract
and with the service contract then u go to Cisco website and with the service contract number u create ur registration in the
CCO to get the account for the CCO or it's responsability of the reseller to create the registration and give u the account?

I believe the reseller can give you the Cisco authorized contract number, or you can get the number (as in buy the contract) direct from Cisco. I haven't worked that end of the stick in a long time and I'm not sure how it works anymore.

I'm pretty sure that either way the number comes from Cisco, it's just a matter of who does the initial paperwork.

Sorry I can't be more specific....

Good Luck
