notice also the $999 50 inch and $499 38 inch variants. Absolute steals for 4K res screens. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if shipping large objects across oceans wasn't such a pain.

Ah bummer! Yeah I've been waiting for the prices to drop to get one for a work project, so I'll probably snag the 65" model now that it's "cheap".

Good price for a 4k in that size but is it a good TV? I love the PQ on my Panny plasma. Can it match up with it in 1080P? How are the black levels? Does it blur in action/sports? How is the input lag for gaming? Lots of question before calling it a deal. For a development PC environment may be a good way to go.

Shouldn't we wait until the rest of the 4K TVs come out (major brands).. that will prob drop the prices on this Seiki model(s)...right?

How much content is available for these things?

I'm not going to pull the trigger on a high def tv just to deal with worse than ever looking television because they're too cheap to upgrade for a decade after the technologies debut.

I've seen the 50" version, it was terrible. There are reviews out there, and the consensus is to avoid it.

Really? I thought it was great for the price. I would buy one over a similar budget model like Vizio.

Compared to a Panasonic plasma? Probably not. You'd want to spend a lot more money on a 4K TV for that. Plus there are new models with improved features (i.e. not stuck on 4K @ 30FPS over the current HDMI spec), so if you want to do gaming & stuff, you may want to wait.

Amazing deal, they're still $975 on Amazon for the 50" model. Really curious to get my hands on one to see how it fares as a basic computer monitor

Yeah. Instead of a multi-monitor setup, this would work soooo much better. Pricing is becoming better every day too.

I thought these only did 4k @ 30 hz though, which would be crappy for computer use?

Only if you play stuff like 3D video games, although you'd probably have a pretty hard time finding a video card that can run 4K resolutions in high detail & high framerates.

I have heard that as well, but Engagdet was reporting Vizio will have a 4K set this year for $1000.

But the 4K HDMI spec for 60fps is HDMI 2.0 so if you are okay with 4Kfps30 you only need HDMI 1.4 otherwise wait.
