64Mb or 128Mb for Non-Gaming

Hi guys.
I recently build a new computer but still have an 8MB piece of crap card. I want to start making my way into some video editing and novice photoshop.
I am considering Nvidia's Personal Cinnema Series for their double monitor capabilities, capture device and good price.
I have a very limited budget so every penny is gold for me.(so forget about ATI)
EVGA has the best cards with this feature for my range of money.

1. eVGA GeForce4 MX440 64MB 128-bit
275 GPU
500 Mhz DDR memory
$99
Look at it
2. eVGA GeForce FX5200 128MB 128-bit
250 GPU
400Mhz DDR Memory
$150
Look at it

OK, I am not a gamer, so DirectX9 capabilities are not much of my interest. I now for benchmarks that this two cards perform almost the same under similar enviroments with the Mx 440 leaving the 5200 sometimes behind. So my real dilema is the RAM memory: the MX440 wiht 64MB and 5200 with 128MB
Is the 128Mb worth the 50 dollars more that I need for a DVD Burner???? Even when the MX440 has faster clock speeds than the 5200.
I am not the ultimate Matrix movie editor, so how much diference will it make?

Couse if I really need a 128MB, there is an MSI card with the Personal Cinema, an FX5200 similar to the eVGA 5200 one but of obvious less quality and a poor bundle for $120 Here it is
That is the one I will have to get in the case of a 128MB card. So here is the second dilema: Should I get a not-the-best-quality 5200 from MSI when I can the the better MX440 from eVGA???

I will really apreciate your opinions!

Thanx

You don't need 128mb. You need a fast CPU and a lot of hard drive space. I would buy a hardware MPEG 2 card like a Hauppauge pvr-250

A video card doesn't do any "video editing." nVidia may give you extra software with their Personal Cinema Series, but the only thing a video card helps out is gaming and 3D Rendering. Video editing is entirely CPU/HDD/MEM dependent. Get a faster P4 CPU (Intel CPU's generally have advantage with encoding), 1GB RAM, and a 7200 RPM 8MB Cache hard drive (SATA if you can, they are slightly faster and almost the same price). The decoder card that lawranch mentioned will help take the decoding load off your CPU, so if you plan on doing a lot of video editing then that will save a lot of time. For your uses, the video card makes little difference.

Ok. I am kinda getting it. I think I will go with the 64MB
But the hauppauge card is not for my budget, remember i need a video card and a dvd drive too. So something like a personal cinema or AIW best fits my needs rigth now.
But is an MX440 too old??

CAn buy a video card, and a capture card like Leadtek Winfast 2000 Xp card
but I think that capturing with a Personal cinnema like the one nVIdia has should be better

Wow, if you're going to spend that much money, get something else... $100 is waaay more than I'd spend for an MX440.

Look for a GF4 Ti4200, or maybe a 9500 for that price.

Or if you are doing video editing you are gonna need quality. Take a good look at Matrox cards who are the masters there.

Also Intel no longer beats AMD in Video Encoding... latest benchmark says so.

If you are looking for cards a Geforce 2 Ti will do better than any of the cards except the Geforce 4 Ti's and the Radeon 9500. As those were the only cards mentioned.

I was still using my GeForce 2 Ti for gaming even up until a couple months ago. Was a helluva card!
