Hi...
Im getting a new Dell computer, and It comes with the new 64mb DDR NIVIDIA...

My first choice would have been a Voodoo 5 but they no can do, so Im getting the new NVIDIA graphics card...

How do NVIDIA cards rate versus the voodoo cards?

I like to play games and lots of them..quake 3 unreal tournament etc. I cant find alot of info out there on the new NVIDIA card as its brand new...opinions appreciated thanks.

The 3D performance of the nVidia cards are better than the 3D performance of the Voodoo5 (According to all the benchmarks, anyway) but I have to warn you that the 2D performance of the nVidia chip will suffer - especially on Trinitron monitors. I think Dell sells their new monitors with FD Trinitron tubes too, so just be wary.

Need more information: What are the specs of the Dell you are ordering? I presume its a Dimension 4100 -

I own an XPS T from yesteryear.

Ok. I guess if you are a hard core gamer the 64 MB might be good. But I'd go with the 32MB DDR GF2 GTS card. As I recall, its a hundred bucks less than the 64 MB card, but still edges it out in performance. The distinction between the two gets murky at high resolutions, but my gut says go with the GTS.

The 64MB DDR upgrade is going to cost you 240.00 which a lot of cash. It comes with a 32MB DDR by default, and you would be wise to stick with it. If you really want to upgrade, spend that 240.00 on a new Elsa Gladiac GF2 GTS (240.00 from buy.com).

Shieeeet... 512MB?? That system's gonna be sweet =)

Well lets see... will getting the 64MB over the default 32MB make a huge difference? With a P3-800 and 512MB SDRAM, I don't think you will be lagging too horribly... I think I would go for the 64MB just to say I have a 64MB card :p but if you want to save money, just get the 32.
