This is brand name Simple Technology Compact Flash. Its rated at 800kbs write spped vs Lexar's 4X compact flash at 600kbs.

Just do a serch on Pricewatch.com for "64mb compact flash" and you will find it. This is the best price without a rebate and faster than the 4X Lexar cards that are only $10 less after rebate or more depending on where you look.

Speed does make a difference on the more expensive newer camera's that's why Lexar charges so much more for its 8x stuff.

Speed doesn't matter... maybe if you do TIFF only pictures... but my Nikon 990 does no faster on a Lexar 8x than it does on a Lexar 4x... ZERO noticable difference.

Just a few of my thoughts,

Maybe if you are using high compression (which you shouldn't be in the first place) you might not notice a difference. Look at it this way, 1600X1200 in super fine is about 1458kb total per picture. Now tell me if you have a card that can only write at 600kb per second how can it write all that within a second? The Nikons are capable of much faster write times than 600kbs as they can shoot more than 1.5 pictures per second, like I said if you are using high compression to get more photos the image size can drop all the way down to only 150-200kb, but on average they are using 580-800kb for most camera's on their usual setting but like I said you should be using the lowest compression in the first place which is well about 1200kb for any +2 mega pixel cameras.

Most of the newer cameras (such as the Canon s100) use an internal memory buffer to store pictures before they are written to memory. This is why the s100 can take pictures at a rate of 2 per sec (thats 1600x1200) regardless of the cardsize. Assuming that you don't fill the buffer, the speed of the CompactFlash card should be irrelevant.

80MB LEXAR CF w/ JumpShot Cable 166.95
-$30 off $150
-$40 Rebate

=$96.95

Isn't the $12 worth 16mb more memory and the USB Jumpshot Cable ?

I don't mean to debate this just educate as it seems some people aren't aware of the facts.

First the I own the Canon S100, try taking three pictures in a row using the super-fine large mode(you need to be in manual mode for this btw) use the consecutive mode so it tries taking them at the spec'd 2 pictures per second. I can only take three pictures before the buffer fills up and then I have to wait at least 4 seconds for it to write enough before it can take the forth picture, than the wait again as it writes enough to have room for another picture, and then it still takes another 10 or so seconds to write the remaining two!

Also I am talking no rebate needed, not everybody want to deal with the pain in the butt rebates. The jump shot cable is a piece of crap not a selling point at all. I'll take the faster card but to each their own.

"The Kingston 64 meg CF card I bought from Buy,com is rated : Media Transfer Rate: Up to 3.5MB/sec "

That's a bull crap marketing spec, no cards are faster than 15X there are some 20X right now and they are the big 300plus megabyte cards. Notice Kingston doesn't say write speed, enough said. Also don't believe any "burst" rate specs either, its all about sustained write speed.

first off you cant get the lexar's that cheap anymore, since the $30 off 150 is dead. 2nd there is a MIR and those take a while, i would rather spend $5-10 more and not have to worry about that. The jumpshot cable is nice (i have a 48mb lexar and yes it is), but if you have a reader already (i have one of those too) it doesnt matter, or if your camera has usb you can just use that to read (though i really dont like this).

Well I don't about you all but my MIR is only taking about 3 weeks. I sent it off a week ago and got an email telling me my rebate is on its way and everything and will be here within 2 weeks. So 3 weeks for a MIR is pretty dang good. Not as good as Microsofts MIR but close.
