It would be nice for those of us that don't have coverage / wifi all the time. :)

Isn't this merely an excuse to charge more? I that Apple's profit margins for their "higher end" offerings are a joke. The price increases are insane. You can argue that with discounts and what not many of their products aren't TOO bad (although on the high side of the price spectrum), but when you start adding $100 here and there, the high end iPad is like WTFRIPOFFF... or like the 8/16/32gb iPod Touch 1G. $299/$399/$499? LOL.

They don't offer a 64 gig iPhone 4, so your logical of it being an excuse to charge more makes no sense. Their pricing is about on par with others, I'd imagine the solid state memory PMP's use isn't cheap. The 64 gig Touch is actually a bit cheaper than the 64 gig Zune HD. I don't think they're offering a 64 gig iPhone 4 because there's not enough room in it for another 32 gig memory chip. Perhaps next year they'll either have shrunk the internals or a larger GB memory chip will be out and they can offer a 64gb. When the 1G Touch came out $100 more for a model with twice as much storage wasn't a bad deal at all. I paid $100 extra to get 16 over 8 gigs and I was very happy I did, definitely wasn't what I'd consider a rip off.

If the 64GB NAND chips are available in quantity before June '11, and Apple puts it into iPhones, then I would imagine that even if they were to charge $100 more than the 32GB, they wouldn't when the iPhone 5 came out. They would just replace the 16GB with the 32GB. Make it $199, the 64GB $299. Just how they would change the iPod Touch lineup to 64GB and 128GB at the top end.

If you watched 700mb divx videos I'm pretty sure your battery would die LONG before you could see all of them. 64GB isnt really needed since you cant install real games on it, and you cant do serious video editing or anything like that. If you had a huge ass music collection and a dock in your car then maybe I could see the need for going form 32gigs to 64.

Actually some of us do have large lossless collections and like to have more of it available without using silly itunes all the time. I wish they had 10TB of storage.

I only want just a little more than all I will ever get. How hard is that to understand? :p

its not hard to understand and i agree with you ruby. hell all i want at this point is a MP3 player with 120 GBs of storage that can play FLAC files. sadly the largest PMP out there seems to be the classic ipod. which fails for having to use itunes, and not being able to play FLAC files afaik as well as many other issues

A 10TB NAND that was a available today would blow my mind. I seem to be roughly the right age to have grown up with computers. THey have always been around me, and I have known their specs generally. So, just the fact that today I can buy a 2TB drive for just over $100 already floors me. If someone were to tell me that there was a 10TB NAND though... I seriously think my head would explode.

That's me as well. I remember having a Commodore 64 with a 360k floppy drive. Then I remember at some point in the late 80's, I bought a used 20MB Seagate full-height hard drive and that just seemed like so much space that I would never fill it.

Even now 1TB just seems ludicrously big (my home NAS has 2x1TB drives in it), and 10TB in a SSD... I have a hard time picturing it.

As far as the OP, I'm sure that a 64GB iPhone is coming, eventually. I don't see it coming until next summer though... maybe Jan if the Verizon rumors are true.

Oh yea, watch lossless on a 3 inch screen rather then the 20-30 mins it takes to convert it. I just set my computer to convert while I sleep. Then its 200-300 mb for a 2 hr movie

You don't have to use iTunes either. THere are numerous apps out there, and you can't use the "I don't wanna jailbreak excuse" anymore. Its easier then ever, and legal.

Yeah, I wrote a Win7 Powershell script to batch convert them and then power down the machine and then just leave the computer running and it converts them all to MP4, names them and shuts off itself when it's done. I keep the original DVD images around but have MP4's to watch. 200MB for 2 hours is smaller than I usually do though. I'm more in the 300-400MB per hour range.

I should not be forced to use an application to get the (iphone) to work as attached storage. If they would just open this and allow the device to be seen on ANY operating system as a PNP usb device it would be great.

Pointless for movies but different strokes for different folks. I plug in my UE10s and jam. :D

Well the dog would pass as a service animal so it would be allowed here! :D

Lots of MP3 players can do WAV, which is lossless. What's wrong with that?

Yes they do however a lot of material I have is PCM 24/96 which has to be resampled anyhow. Lossless can save space which happens to be at a premium. You guys with 3G/wifi "round the clock" connections have it made as you can just stream to your phone and never have to worry about it. :hmm:

Yes not wanting to jailbreak is a valid excuse just like not wanting to root a phone is a valid excuse as well. Sorry but not everyone wants to "hack" their phone to get basic features.

Then they aren't making a valid complaint if the features would be there if they were to jailbreak. Simple as that.

What else are they going to do? Just bitch and moan about it? Write to Jobs?

What is with the constant complaining around here as if we are god and will somehow fix it for them? POOF!!!!! You can now do stuff. Well, that is what jailbreaking does for you. If that isn't a valid answer then there is no valid answer. You have to jailbreak to do what you want on an iPhone. Everyone knows this.
