Does anyone know why Cisco has no vpn client for 64 bit windows?? i just ran into this problem, none of the clients i have would install!!!

Cisco doesn't think 64bit support is important. They just suggest upgrading to the new version of their VPN system which requires new hardware. LAMO.

And that is why Cisco isn't on my short list for router/firewall replacements this year. They really dropped the ball on this. They have had over two years to get ready for 64-bit operating systems on the desktop. Who doesn't have 64-bit machines at their workplace now?

We haev the same issue here at my work. I just use virtual PC and run the client on XP... suprisingly it works quite well.

Um... anyconnect works on 64 bit. That's what we use.

From cisco's site.. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/doc...1client.html#wp1542293

Cisco IPSec Client does not support 64-bit. If the user requires 64-bit support, the upgrade path is to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client instead, which does support 64-bit. However, the AnyConnect Client supports only SSL VPN connections (CSCsi26069).

For Windows Vista, there is no firewall support in the VPN Client. To resolve the Bluescreen issue onWindows XP related to the VPN client built-in firewall, upgrade to VPN Client version 5.0.5.x or higher .

Like tranceport said, AnyConnect has a 64-bit version. Sadly, MIT and Harvard (where i work) do not validate a windows install because they dont have a 64-bit server running. From my research, Cisco is depricating the old VPN and moving toward AnyConnnect. Something to keep in mind.

The Cisco VPN client is just a standard IPSec client for the most part, can't you find any other IPSec clients that work in 64-bit Windows?

You would think so, but the only alternative to the Cisco client I have seen is the NCP one in the link above.

That's kind of funny, I've been using vpnc on Linux to connect to ASAs at our client sites for a while although that doesn't help you in Windows.
