64bit Sata drivers in VMware?

I was lead to believe that I would need Sata drivers on a floppy when installing XP 64bit, however I successfully installed it without the drivers but in VMware.

Is this because I am running the SATA drive in "IDE" mode, or does VMware eliminate the need to use additional drivers? In other words, if it worked in VMware without floppy drivers will it also work normally without?

it's possible the copy of XP you used for the VM install already had driver support integrated for the chipset you're using.

I'm not clear what you are trying to do. Are you just trying to install XP 64-bit on a computer, or you are trying to install XP 64-bit into VMWare?
