We'll see. From the pentax forums at dpreview, it will only be sold in Japan, a 2010 release date, and it may have a slight crop factor to it (1.2 or 1.3). The only thing really solid is that it'll be under 1 million yen, and it will only be released in Japan at the moment.

Hoya has been a lot more tight lipped about what it will or will not release. If they went ahead and announced this, I'm going to assume that they are being more serious rather than the perpetual vaporware that has plagued Pentax for a while now.

What "perpetual vaporware"? Perhaps a lens or 2 dissipated into the ether, but as far as I'm aware, Pentax hasn't made announcements that have gone unfulfilled. There's so much unsubstantiated "information" floating around on forums like DPReview that everything has to be taken with a large helping of salt.

having lenses on the roadmap for years before releasing them late is the biggest issue with pentax. that's another facet of vaporware.

i think hoya is in the process of cleaning house and getting things in order so products can be released on time.

OK, I never take roadmaps as gospel, but you make a valid point.

I think it doesn't fall into the vaporware category but how about K10D?
Even before official specs. came out, Petax said K10D will be a revolution in terms of IQ. After that, this higly regarded Pentax user said he knows what K10D will do and that it's better than MF cameras. He even said he can finally replace his MF cameas because K10D is just much better than MF films. DR, gradation, noise was supposed to be so darn good but.....what came was just plain K10D.

That's just an overzealous Pentax user...? The K10D was still an amazing camera for the price though.
