640x480 problems with Dell 2001FP

I just tried running starcraft that is locked at 640x480 resolution. The image is shifted horizontally to the right side, so that there is a black bar around 4inches wide on the left, and 4 inches on the right is masked.
If I have my desktop resolution at 75Hz before I run the game, then this would not occur.
I'm using VGA with a matrox millenium ii 4MB card.

are you happy with how starcraft looks on this lcd? just curious, I have one and havent played it on it yet (figured it would be terrible like my laptop)
