WD 640AAKS (320x2 platter?) VS Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB

$100 VS $160

Which is better bang for the buck?

By cost per gig, the WD 640. 15.6 cents per gig vs 16 cents per gig, if I did the math right.

Realistically, depends how much space you need. If you need 1Tb, the samsung is cheaper then 2 WD's.

Both are great drives and a good value.

How about you decide for yourself ;)

They are both pretty close.

That review shows how the WD 640 GB, Samsung F1 1 TB, & new VelociRaptor all compare.

It depends on what you are running the most, as you'll see they trade leads all throughout the review.

I'm going to say the WD 640gb if you want it for the windows drive (IMO the WD is slightly faster and i prefer a single partition, fast drive for my windows drive, doubt i will need 1TB for my windows drive anyways), and the F1 for storage/secondary HDD purposes.

$85+$10 shipping != $80. I got mine from buy.com about a week ago for $93 after 5% off coupon (they raised the price I think), and I'm using it right now. It seems pretty fast, although I don't have much to compare it to. Much quieter than my 320GB 7200.10. I had to decide between the 750GB F1 and the WD6400AAKS, and I chose the latter because it was a much better deal at that time, and the extra 110GB weren't necessary for me. I think it's hard to go wrong with either one.
