6400 work in 4200 slot?

Broke student with POS ECS motherboard. Do not want to buy 4200 memory, have 6400 stick extra. Can I run the 6400 stick in the 4200 slot, and will it damage it (6400).

Yeah, you can run 6400's in 4200 slots. 6400 is just the bandwidth in which the ram is capable of outputting. Whether or not that bandwidth is pushed through the ram or not is up to the motherboard.
