Aside from tossing a pair in Raid0, I'm not sure what you'd actually do with only 64GB but it's on sale @ MicroCenter

64gb is plenty for a boot drive as long as you have another drive in your system. I been using an intel-v 40gbs for years in my htpc and it still has 8gbs free.

I don't do anything crazy, just move your my documents over to drive d, move the page file to drive d, and turn of hibernate.

I have an Intel X25V 40 GB SSD.

I think I have enough storage for Windows XP, but will the maneveurs you mentioned safely allow me to put Windows 7 onto that SSD (and future Windows updates?)

No need to fight over who sawy it first. Better to start a new thread if you think the deal is hot anyways. Most people just skim the titles when looking for deals.

I guess one could purchase to use as a cache drive for a HDD if needed. Better option than slicing a portion out of a larger SSD.

64GB is a little bit tight for an OS drive, but it would make a fine cache drive for Intel SRT.

Sorry if I did not make this clear. I am using windows 7 ultimate 64bit for my htpc. I have no problems doing so and I have windows updates turn on. It is maintenance free, I do not worry about space it just operates correctly.

I was wrong I don't have 8gbs i have 9.37 gbs free. My entire Windows folder is 20.2 gbs, this folder includes 9.2 gb for the "winsxs" subfolder and "installer" subfolder which is 4.1gb these folders grow over time for this is where windows keeps all your windows updates and all your install files of your programs incase you ever want to remove files. Other big folders is my app data which is 3.7 gbs, my x86 program files which is 2.1 gb, my x64bit program files which is 1.8 gb

I have a Win7 system running OK with an Intel 40GB SSD. Just running Windows 7 and a few apps is fine, and you'll have over 10GB free. However my son installed steam and one game (TF2) and it ran out of space. I freed up some space initially by running disk cleanup, and turning on the option to remove service pack files. That helped, but a few steam updates (with TF2 + Steam taking up ~20GB!) made it run out of space again. So then I just compressed the entire SSD. That gave me about 10 GB free, and I don't notice any speed penalties. I've been running compression on another SSD for over 2 years now, and it doesn't seem to effect lifespan or anything else. So I don't think there should be any problems at all with a 64GB SSD, as long as you don't install too many games. You can run compression to gain a whole lot of extra room.
