i'd like to point out that theyre clocked lower (because of the higher cache), but still, i dont like it...

How the heck did you find that, it doesn't appear to be listed with all the rest of the AMD processors?

I found it by accident. I was searching a Best Buy laptop that said it had a 2800+ XP-M CPU, which I didnt think existed. I just stumbled upon it. (The XP-M 2800+ doesnt exist, btw.) I then just had to make sure the 64-M was legit. I know the AMD site had said it shipped like a month ago, but no one had it. Now, apparently, they do.

I think I broke newegg or something, all that is liste don page 3 are XP's. I have it sorted by price, high to low, so page 3 is like under 100.00 or something. I don't see it liste don page 2 either, which has I think 2 other processors listed for 187.00.

Its no big deal as the link he provided works, but why can't I find it.

They also have a 3000+ and 3200+ all with 1MB cache. Increases by 200 MHz each time and all about the same price as the retail versions.

Ah ha, switching to In stock instead of price makes it show up exactly on page 3, thanks.

Dang i really wonder just what these can do. I am so ready to build my new rig, just waiting on some nice motherboards to come out.

Sweet I was wondering when they would have these low voltage models rather than the standard DTR's.

The 1.25V is incorrect. AMD's documentation shows that they run at 1.4V so these seem to be, at best, well selected Athlon64 DTRs. Therefore, I would expect that the max mutliplier lock is still in effect. There are 1.2V Athlon64s coming but those are a different breed altogether.

Another point for those that think these are some big advance in thermals for the Athlon64. Remember that when AMD rates thermal output they only give the max output for the single top of the food chain CPU. Thus, for the C0 stepping, the highest is a 3400+ at 89W. For the CG stepping DTRs the highest is a 3400+ at 81.5W. Now here's where you need to pay attention. The highest AMN 1.4V CPU is the 3200+ and NOT the 3400+ so the TDP listed of 62W cannot be compared to the other CPUs. In fact, if you compare it to the DTR CPUs and do a little guestimation (don't know if there's a linear relationship between clockspeed and heat) you'll see that these are basically CG DTR CPUs running at 1.4V I really think these are just DTR CPUs that AMD has decided to rebrand.

For reference, my DTR 3200+ runs just fine at 1.4V

Bottom Line - Much ado about nothing. These are simply rebadged DTRs which have been available for a couple of months now.

Does anyone have a guess at why the renaming, if they are just the same as the older DTR's? Also, I'm sorry to get people's hopes up. I was duped. My bad. I am just really looking forward to a strongly OCable 64. I am looking to overhaul my 4-year old system and was hoping to be able to get one of these in a couple months. I guess I can just keep hoping.
