Has ANYONE seen anything, ( or has done it ) or read about using these " Jump Shot " USB adapters with other CF cards?
Like Scandisk, that are not made for this adapter? Will they work with it ?
IE, not a "special" USB Lexar card.
Thanks,
Ken

jumpshot readers are Proprietary to lexar media. Had one, and it did work with one of my generic CF cards but that was by chance. Best bet is the SanDisk ImageMate it read all types Smart media and CF.

I almost went with the SanDisk, but for the same price was the Dazzle. The SanDisk came with nothing, the Dazzle came with Dazzle OnDVD software, which easily generates slide shows that you can burn on CD to play on DVD players (this was at Circuit City). Plus, the Dazzle footprint is more to my liking than the SanDisk.

Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, tho. Just bought it Wednesday, bastards broke into my house on Friday. They got my Nikon CoolPix 800, which was sitting right next to the Dazzle...morons. The Dazzle is still even in its original packaging, but they didn't grab it. They didn't realize the camera isn't USB capable, and the serial cables are still in the original box. Plus, there was also a Lexar card in the camera case, and the jumpshot cable was ALSO sitting right next to it. So they have TWO cards they can't transfer pictures off of. Criminals are stupid.

Can you tell I'm a little pissy about this?

I have several Lexar CF card and jumpshot cable. I've not really try other brand with the jumpshot cable but from my understanding, Lexar's CF have the USB built into the card itself. The cable does nothing more then connecting the card to the PC to activate the USB function of the card. So unless other brands have build this feature in, the jumpshot cable would be useless to them.

Readers are a USB device so any card will work with them. Jumpshot cable is not.

If believe this should be correct.

Not a threadcrap, but the Bayarea Fry's (and possibly the other Fry's) has 128 MB SM or CF for 39.99 through Tuesday. SKU's are #2779953 for CF and #3199810 for SM.

Only reason I mention this is the CompUsa rebates are slooowwwww. I've been waiting for all my Thanksgiving rebates (seven of them for 345), and most aren't due to be mailed until middle of March. 16 weeks is too long.

Rossman: Don't you have a Fry's up in your area or is it just CA, TX and AZ?

esquared - Yep we have a Fry's but it's in Wilsonville, OR which is a 25 min drive from my house :(

Do you know what brand that is?

Since the difference is only $10 I think I'd still buy the 128MB SM from CostCo B&M because it's a name brand (SanDisk) and CostCo has the _BEST_ return policy compared to Fry's.

I am pretty sure it's a brand called Delkin Devices. I've bought a couple SM's from Fry's and they've been fine. When they're on sale the price is around 10.00 per 32 MB. I bought a 32MB for 9.99 around 6 months ago and a 64 MB for 19.99 in Dec.

You're right about the return policy. I've known people that return things back to Costco after nearly a year and get their money back.

I picked mine up today...just in time for my kid's birthday party! Now I can "fire at will" with 146 photo capability, compared with my 18 shot max with 8MB.

Thanks for the deal normajean.

I might buy this since I was at CostCo B&M tonight and they raised the price on the 128MB CF and SM to $59.95 from $49.95 :(

Just picked up one of these cards today. Tried in my el cheapo HP215($30) camera and it doesn't work. Says I need to reformat it, and when I do it gives me a format error. Is this card not compatable with this camera( I know Mr. Flash isn't compatable either) or is it a broken card.
