i wish them the best of luck. hopefully, there will be some secessions from the u.s.g. because the u.s.g has become downright tyrannical and it needs to be starved.

who thinks that more secessions from outside the u.s. will put the breaks on the u.s.g?

Im glad you support wealthy-only societies.

From the article:
Wealthy Venetians, under mounting financial pressure in the economic crisis, have rallied in their thousands, after growing tired of supporting Italy’s poor and crime ridden Mezzogiorno south, through high taxation.

I used to FERVENTLY support having one world government. I thought it was the inevitable arc of human history. In a way I still think so, but under current conditions I think we're nowhere near ready for it and things like the EU are causing enormous problems.

In the short term I'd like to see the EU and even lots of individual nations break into smaller pieces, including and especially the US. In the long term I'd like us to eventually reach a one world government situation, but probably like 500 years from now.

i support all secessions.
to be fair venice used to have an empire across the whole mediterranian so they have their own identity seperate from italy. but so do many other cities in italy in fact
well, italy is an artificial construct. not sure why anyone thought it would be a good idea to put the brachycephalic norics/red norics/dinarics and dolichocephalic meds into one State and try to pretend that the two groups were the same nation.

not entirely artificial when you consider rome ruled all of italy for some time and would have brought some cultural unity

edit: read the rest of your sentance. after the fall of rome northern italy was invaded by germanics and also the area was inhabited by celtics before the romans conquered it. also italy does have a lot of genetic divirsity. so it is more like inbetween unity and independent countries.

Venice used to own Crimea. I heard they will be invading soon to reclaim their territory.

An independent Venice? Perhaps it's not quite as daft as it seems

Underpinning the idea of big political units is often an assumption that human social and economic affairs are best arranged by grand design. Digital changes that. We cannot only do collectivism without the state. We do not need a big state arranging things for us.

There is growing evidence that smaller states are better governed because they have less government – and the governance that they do have is less remote, more accountable, and better able to adapt when things need to change.

Attempts to organise Europe by grand design – with a common currency and standardised approach to policymaking – are failing....

Estonia has a population of a mere 1.4 million – and she seems to be doing pretty well. In fact, if you consider how her public administration has adapted to the internet, I reckon Estonia has a thing or two to teach us. Singapore is small and successful. So is Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Dubai. In fact if you look at the richest countries by GDP, they tend to be the smaller states.

Things change...

There's alot to be admired about smaller countries such as Estonia, Singapore, and Iceland...

People in Venice don't seem to think that they have any obligation to subsidize the less productive parts of Italy ...

To me, that seems pretty rational...
