Any recommendations for RAM+ MB of what to look for in terms of speeds (other than making sure it is on QVL for MB in question?) ?

I have Ryzen 1700 CPU, about to buy motherboard and memory.
If you use Ryzen with 64 GB, what do you use?

Thank you

From what I read, the G.Skill TridentZ F4-3200C16Q-64GTZKW DIMMs should work.

Pricey though.

g.skill's been on a rampage over the last gen or two. I highly recommend their TridentZ platform. You'll spend an extra $20 but it's worth it. 3200 is the sweet spot last time I checked, prices start going up non-linearly after that.

I've got an r51600 on a b350 motherboard. I'm using a pair of 16GB crucial ballistic ddr4 2400 DIMMS . These are double sided modules which theoretically shouldn't overclock well, but I'm running comfortably at ddr4 3000. I've noticed as the bios revisions for my motherboard progress, the RAM overclocking has gotten bette5

I wanted the option of going to 64Gb later and given Ryzen's pickiness, I went with Kingston HyperX Fury 2x16Gb. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XKSPW5V/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are no 16Gb 3200mhz sticks on the QVL (at least not for my Taichi), so if you're wanting to stick to the QVL, you'll have to go slower.

Well, I'm not picking a fight with you, and I'm not familiar with Ryzen/AMD. But if the TridentZ's touted as compatible in another post work with Ryzen, a lot of those kits should work. It wouldn't matter if that particular model is on the QVL list so much, but only if the same model in a slower speed can be found, or possibly something like a RipJaws DDR4 kit. For the G.SKILLs I've bought in building three systems, none of them matched the QVL list entries for speed, although they were in the same model lines. For instance, if I'd looked on the QVL for RipJaws DDR3 and only 1333 Mhz was shown, I wouldn't find the 1600s or 1866 speeds. But they worked with the motherboard. Same with my TridentZ 3200 "GTZ" kits.

They DO have 2x16GB kits. Personally, I chose the objective of 32GB for my Skylake, agonizing over whether to replace a 2x8 with a 2x16. I took a walk on the wild side and bought a second kit of 2x8's. Works like a champ. I just can't set the command-rate to 1 . . . .
