If you have a true 64-bit server cpu (Itanium/Xenon/etc...) then, use win64. IF you have a x86 desktop cpu (doesn't matter if it's 32/64), then you use win32.

eh, no
Itanium is the IA64 instruction set
Xenon is a RISC processor
The 64bit version of windows runs on the x86-64 instruction set, the 32bit version runs on x86-32 instruction set.
The x86-64 instruction set is as every bit true 64bit as the IA64 and RISC sets.
x86-64 processors include the 64bit AMD and Intel desktop cpu's.
edit
and a "server cpu" is just any cpu you use on a server

ah ok. excuse my ignorance. I thought the win64 was only for true 64's. I've never tried it myself, but that was what I gathered from reading around. I never really got into the details of it, however.

and regarding vista, the 64bit version has to have signed drivers for everything, the 32bit version doesnt require signed drivers
Which is better, Honda Odessy or Honda NSX? Same sort of question. The mini-van can take all the kids on those long family trips. The NSX can take two people somewhere really quick. As long as you have a 2 year old in a car seat (a legacy app with a device driver for special hardware), the NSX is not recommended.Originally posted by: mad0maxx
64 Bit Vista or 32 Bit Vista?! Which one would be better for the long run?
