64-bit Vista machine won't login

The full error is "Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details."

It, seemingly randomly, started happening this morning (Last night?) when I tried to pull my machine out of what I thought was sleep, perhaps I held down the power for too long and actually shut it down. I am unable to log in at all and it just keeps repeating that message. I tried to boot from my vista disk but all I get is the default "aurora borealis" background with no options. I also tried to boot to the last working settings (however the option is phrased) previously but I am unable to get to that menu now. I've had no problems up until now.

I've tried to find a solution to the problem from google and microsoft's website but have been unsuccessful.

I'm not sure what else I should include beyond the hardware installed.
