64 Bit Vista Games Support ?

Hi ,

I have an AMD 5000+ AM2 CPU & an ASUS M2N-SLi Deluxe Motherboard , so i should be able to install Windows Vista Ultimate x64 , yeah ?

What i wanted to know is , can you install normal PC Game on a 64 Bit OS ? Like does x64 Vista support x32 Applications and Games ?

Only problems I've had thus far was a bad set of video card drivers from Nvidia. Went back to previous version, and continued on playing.

In general, yes.

I've had maybe a handful of games that do not like Vista 64-bit, either refusing to install (Far Cry 5-CD version), or not running correctly without taking additional steps (Mechwarrior 4 Mercs needs a NoCD patch, Might and Magic 8 needs DOSBox). Those are definitely the exception, not the rule though.

I heard 64-bit gaming has some paging/memory problems, they may have been corrected. But not sure if the drivers are mature enough to grant you 100% performance of the 32-bit counterpart.

Games work fine in 64bit Vista. There were a couple of games I had to do a little extra to get working, but overall, I have a bunch of games installed, and they all work fine.

I heard from someone that had severe problems getting various Heros of Might and Magic games working with Vista. Ranging from "does not install" to "copy-protection does not recognize the CD in the drive".

I can confirm that both Heroes V and Heroes V: Hammers of Fate work fine in Vista x64 after all the patches are installed. Don't know about the earlier HOMM games.

on another tangent, does anyone know when there will be 64bit games comming out any time soon? it took 16 years for 32 bit computing to become adopted, and it has been 3 years and some months since 64bit CPUs went mainstream, how much longer will it be before lots of apps start showing up for the masses in 64bit code?

almost everything will run on both 32bit and 64bit...
Some programs are limited to one or the other. and nowadays more programs are limited to 64bit then 32bit. (yes I know what I said, there are 64bit only programs, and they are more then 32bit programs incompatible with 64bit vista)

A bunch of my games have a 64bit executable.

Ditto....the only game I had a problem with was BFME, which required me to manually create a save game folder (or something like that) to allow the game to run, other then that, I haven't had any problems.

games work.

Some old games wont tho.

Warcraft3 and TFT i had to get from direct download at the blizzard store. Its free if you have a key.

I havent finished installing all my games yet.

I just got vista up and running. Oh what i did notice was i lost some overclocking potental on vista.
