I just got done putting together my new computer:

AMD 64-bit 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe
1 GB Mushkin RAM
ATI Radeon X800 Pro

Operating system is Windows XP Pro.

Anyway, I started it up and tried to install some drivers off of a CD, but it gives me this error for trying to auto-run any CD or trying to open most executable files from any CD.

"autorun.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point HeapReAlloc@(wierd symbols) could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

I also tried copying the contents of the CD to the HDD, but it gives me the exact same error.

I have read on other forums that a couple other people have had this error, but no one replied to their threads.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

Could be bad memory or bad mem slot on system board. Just ran into the exact same problem you did. Tried all manner of fixes from SATA drivers to BIOS updates to different CD and HD drives including different releases of XP figuring there might be an issue with the dual registries that are run as a result of the 64 bit processor. In the end the ASUS A8V SB was the problem.
