64-bit AMD / Windows XP Problems / KERNEL32.dll error

I just got done putting together my new computer:

AMD 64-bit 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe
1 GB Mushkin RAM
ATI Radeon X800 Pro

Operating system is Windows XP Pro.

Anyway, I started it up and tried to install some drivers off of a CD, but it gives me this error for trying to auto-run any CD or trying to open most executable files from any CD.

"autorun.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point HeapReAlloc@(wierd symbols) could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

I also tried copying the contents of the CD to the HDD, but it gives me the exact same error.

I have read on other forums that a couple other people have had this error, but no one replied to their threads.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

did you actually format your drive after you upgraded or did you just chuck yoyur old drive in the new system?

oh by the way this should be in the technical help forum!

Yes, I threw in a brand new 160GB Maxtor HDD. I did a full format to the drive and re-installed windows fresh.

And I just realized I posted it in the wrong forum, sorry about that. It won't happen again.
