The polar bears have learned to associate the noise of snowmobiles with an easy snack, as long as they can get in front of the snowmobile and wait.

The purpose of these is not for Patrol, but for carrying out Assaults. A way to get close enough to an enemy so as to have the element of surprise.

that just doesn't make sense to me, it's not going to be used for any large scale skirmishes (saddling a company up on snowmobiles aren't going to be stealthy no matter how quiet it is). I imagine its range is fairly limited so it's not going to be well equipped for recon. So it'll probably be used for transporting SOFs to a target, but there are already many perfectly good insertion techniques for all types of terrain, some more stealthy but slower, some less stealthy but with a faster response time. Seems like an awfully expensive toy for an awfully small niche.

company gets mounted back at base camp; not within ear/eyeball range of the target.

You are talking 1-2 hours of transport time to get to the skirmish area.

Now days; large scale conflicts are not expected; it is the short and quick ones.
Win the territory; and support the spear point.

it's got niche uses but I can see its utility. Canada isn't going to war with anyone of course but you know, what if you have to sneak up on inuit terrists?
Maybe sled dogs can do that just fine but it would be a big army of dogs.

Ah, then why bother? Maybe we should just surrender now and avoid the $Cost and loss of Life preemptively

o_O.

Who knows?

I just find the emphasis on "Arctic Sovereignty" to be hilarious by the current (possibly previous too) government.
