6200 with Windows 7, will it work?

Quick question, anyone see any reason why you could not run Windows 7 on a 6200? My uncle has an old abit NF7-s and needs a new AGP card that is compatible with Win 7 (his MX440 is not). The 6200 is the only card I can find that will work, is cheap, and won't freak out his older Enermax 375w PSU. Can anyone concur?

i have a FX 5900XT in an OLD browsing machine we use, running windows 7 *with aero* (atleast there is no visible difference between this and any of my sig rigs which also run windows 7)

there are no drivers supporting it on Nvidia website, but using the vista drivers worked just fine.

to be honest i was extremely suprised this worked so well, when i find the time i will post a SS of what the desktop looks like.

to answer your question, yes the whole 6 series and up is supported under win7 and will have no problems.

It'd probably work. If AGP doesn't work, could always go PCI. There is a PCI 8400 GS and a PCI 9400GT that'd do the job.

Would it be better to go PCI? Which will support Aero better? What about power requirements? He just wants to be able to use Windows 7 and do some light gaming.

Yes it works. Upgraded my dad's old Dell Pentium 4 box from WinXP to Win7 that has a Geforce 6200. No issues.

Good, thanks for all the replies. He ordered the card today and should be good to go. I wanted him to get something with a little more punch but that older enermax just does not have alot of juice.

I've ran Windows 7 perfectly fine on a P3 1.13ghz Lappy with 512MB of ram. It honestly did good and no real problems. It obvously won't run aero or any real eyecandy effects, but it does the basics and webbrowsing just fine. 🙂
