60MM to 80MM or 120MM fan adapter? Too heavy?

I am running an Asus A7n8X-DLX board with a Barton 2500+ OC'ed to 3200+ with 200mHz FSB. When I do some video editing my CPU temps get over 51C and I have had 1 lockup thus far. I am running the stock HS with a 60MM fan. I went ahead and tried an old Delta 60MM screamer and it dropped my temps a few degrees but the sound of the dentist drill 24/7 will suck so I am thinking of getting one of those fan adapters and running a larger fan that pushes more CFM but with tolerable dB's.

Has anybody used one of these adapters? Do they do the job or not?

what heatsink do you use?

Why not get a slk-800u?

that takes a 80MM fan or even a SK7+

They are both thermalright heatsinks.

use the stock HSF. It has been fine so far but with the OC and the video editing the temps get too high sometimes.

i've been at around 60C on prime95 without a lockup or failure. are you sure you're actually stable or that the cpu temps are reading correctly?

imo, i don't think your chip is currently stable. 51C should not be a problem.

I have to agree with Adul.
The stock HSF is pretty good normally, but when overclocking you need to upgrade it.
I currently have an SLK-800U/TT SmartFanII on my Barton 2500+ and never see socket temp above 46C.
I am going to replace my TT fan with a Panaflo U1A though soon to reduce noise a bit.

BTW- My PC is @100% load 24/7 because of the distributed project I am running. My temps actually drop when I am playing a game or doing other things.
