60000 members! I remember when the new board just started up and there was only 200 or so that first few hours. You could read a post and recognize the name of the poster. Now with some many people it is getting a little impersonal. For instance Charles, you have almost 2000 posts and I can't even remember any of your other posts. (p.s. I may not post a lot, but I am one big lurker...lol) This forum is getting BIG.

AT Forums is one of the few forums I really respect and trust. That is why I don't use an alias. ;)

I don't post that much though. Only about 3 threads a day. It's been great to virtually know and talk with you guys.

I wonder how many visit on a regular basis?

anywho, I trust these forums more then I trust some other websites (though I've never checked out most other website forums).

One thing that IMHO can be done to attract more users to these forums is to make one forum for highly technical discussion.. things like, how exactly compression works (or new ways of compressing the data), or how video cards work (or certain techniques of doing things on video cards). The more knowledge that is shared on these forums, the smarter the population is (hey I learned ALOT from BenSkywalker and DaveB3D), the better!

AT Forums moderators, Anand: Will you use AMD 760MP + Dual Palomino for your next server platform?

That's all I need to know.

Charles, did you read anand's review on the 760MP. He said that they will definitely be using a 760MP solution for the next database upgrade. :)

We may have 60k+ registered users however I would estimate that 70% of those are completely inactive accounts that have been used once for a quick post by someone in a rush or by people who came and then left because they got flamed etc....

I have yet to see more then ~900 ppl actually logged in at once.

Yeah, I've read it. I just need confirmation, and if possible the actual system configurations. ;)

I just found this bbs yesterday. I have been using linuxnewbie.org and linux junior.org. I also found a bbs for networking at www.duxcw.com. I think that I will limit myself to these four boards. Much more then that and i will not have time for other things.
This board looks good so far. I will post when I can, and not ask too many questions. I hope to be able to answer more then I ask though.:D:|:D

I wonder how many people joined just for a particular forum and then branched out? For example I was a lurker in Hot Deals for months before I joined, and stuck only to Hot Deals. It wasn't until later that I branched out into Off Topic/Hardware/Motherboards/etc. Found some intelligent people to converse with (and some that were obviously inbreds, but hopefully those have moved on). Good community!
