60hz at school, help please

In my High School computer lab they have all of the AOC 15" monitors running at 60hz for the refresh rate. We all know this is bad. I looked up the specs on these monitors and they can definately do at least 85Hz at the 800x600 they are set at. I can't change it myself because the computers are on lockdown with Novell. How can I can I convince the tech guy to crank 'em up? My eyes hurt.
