6043 drivers won't install for Radeon 8500DV

Hello all,

The 6043 drivers are great and are working happily with my Radeon 8500 retail on my main machine.

However I cannot get the drivers to install for my 8500DV. When I try to install it an error message appears and tells me that

"This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed in your system."

Is there a way to circumvent this and install the drivers directly?

We have a bug then.. This same happened to me so I quit after 3 hours of struggle and installed unofficial ones from rage3d.com
over the last couple of days I have seen couple of post like your and mine so it is (suprise suprise) another bug....

This is absolutely unbelievable - I got the exact same error on my Radeon 7000 on Windows XP and the drivers before 6043s finally fixed it. It seems like whenever ATi releases a new card it takes them several driver revisions to produce drivers that actually install on them.

I'd like to get my hands on ATi's QA team and slowly strangle all of them. :disgust:

Well, I ended up installing ATi's latest official drivers. At first the performance was really bad, worse than I had with a Radeon 32 DDR. That was why I was considering the leaked drivers.

I installed some chipset drivers and my performance more than doubled. So everything's fine for now.

Also remember that these drivers are unofficial leaked drivers. I doubt that they have been through ATi's QA team yet.

I have no qualms ATi's performance. Though I'm not blown away by them I haven't been disappointed yet
