Gosh, I've been missing out all this time using just inkjet printer the last 5 terms. I have both now and only use inkjet for color. I don't use color too often and at 600dpi, text printed off of laser is superior to 5760x1440dpi and TRUE 17ppm. I've never anywhere near 15ppm on my inkjet.

that and the running costs are so much lower. printing 100 pages off my laser is something i don't even think about, but with how ink prices are now it's like $10 for an inkjet

Yes, laser printers are great. I have never used an inkjet printer at home.

Funny this thread should be posted here today. Was shopping for a little printer this morning. Think I'm going to get the HP Laserjet 1012 for around $130.00. I'll leave my color pics to professional printers over at Wolf Camera or CVS.

I have both monochrome laser and color inkjet. I use the color inkjet when I must have color such as photos, graphs and presentation. When I need to do 4x6 digital photos, I get them developed at a local supermarket and when I need to do 8x10 prints, I use the school library's color laser which is 50 cents per page. Price is high if you use it for regular color stuff, but if you only use it for 8x10 prints, that's a pretty good deal.

NO! DON'T! Those things are HATEFUL, SPITEFUL pieces of junk. Get a REAL laser printer (an old one, used, even) or an inkjet.

I find the Canon inkjets to be fairly economical for full-page color. Just gotta be careful buying the ink.
