Hey Everyone,
Hoping someone has an answer to this question. The Corsair forums dont seem to.
Ok here it is. Building new system this week, only thing to question is my cooling. I am getting a new 600T case with the Mesh side panel. I am planning on running 4x 120mm fans on the side mesh. Aprx 25mm each I assume. They are basic Xigmateks. OK on my motherboard I really want to run a Hyper212 Evo, but with its 148mm clearance. There may be a chance they will hit. I cant seem to find the information anywhere on the clearance of the side panel. If anyone knows please let me know. If not I am just going to get a GeminII S524 and just use it to cool the VRMs which isnt any biggy since I am not going to overclock anyway.

Thanks,
Joe

i've got the 600T w/ the mesh side panel (populated w/ two 120x120x25mm fans directly over top of a CM 212+ or 212 EVO (i have a 212+ in one box and a 212 EVO in another, but i can't remember which one is in the 600T case lol). assuming the 212+ and the 212 EVO have the same height, you'll be just fine. if i had to guess at how much clearance there is between the side fans and the tips of the heatpipes that stick out the top of the 212, i'd say there approx. 1cm, maybe 3/4 of an inch.

*EDIT* - i just checked newegg, and the 212 EVO is only 0.5mm taller than the 212+, so your side fans will clear the EVO by about the same amount...

Sweet. Thanks Sunny.

Now the question is, running the downward draft cooler like the GeminII s524 will help cooling the VRMs, but would running the H212 block cooling the VRMs to a degree.

The Hyper212 is an awesome cooler for its price. The direct contact heatpipes help a lot, but I would hate to block cooling the VRMs at the expense of 3C better cooling over the GeminII.

Curently I have an older model of the GeminII running in this system, its a MSI 770T-C45 mobo with a Phenom 9850 sitting chilly at 24-25C it idle. Never over 40c playing games or encoding video.

Now I dont plan on overclocking, hence I am getting the regular i7-3770 and not the K version. I am more into making my rig last as long as possible.

Thanks,
Joe

unfortunately i can't be of much more help. i have no experience w/ downdraft coolers, and i have no idea if your particular motherboard is prone to VRM overheating. i've never had that issue on a board b/c they've always had these massive heatsinks on them, so i've never been very concerned w/ VRM cooling. if you're not going to be doing any OCing, then i wouldn't worry too much about VRM temps. either 212 model will most likely outperform the GeminiII, but the GeminiII will probably suffice for CPU temps too (again, b/c you won't be OCing).
