600M Video Card replaceable?

I have a 600m. I believe the Video Card went out because everything else seems to be running except the video. And of course, warranty has expired. Was wondering if anyone has replaced the card because that's about 500-600 cheaper than buying a new notebook.

I had the 64MB video card for it. Only know it's ATI and no other info of it. Saw some Radeon 9600's on eBay. Will those work?

More than likely not. I've heard of some Dell's having user replaceable video, but I believe yours will be saudered onto the motherboard. Call Dell to check, but I think you're SOL; you need a whole new motherboard. Just wait for a Dell $750 off $1500 coupon and buy a new one

Or, as I tell everyone who buys Dell, BUY A WARRANTY ;)

yup, and the waiting game begins...funny thing though is I DID buy the warranty...a whole extra year, and it died right after that one expired!

Your card is the Mobility Radeon 9000. There is a way to replace it, although you may need to go to Dell Spare parts and buy an expensive card there.\

You're gonna need to replace the entire motherboard, the Radeon 9000 on the 600m is soldered onto the motherboard.

What Dells have replacable video cards? Dell has some laptops with pci express graphics, but considering that Dell doesn't sell laptop video card upgrades and has no mention of upgradability, I'd doubt they are.

My old roommate had a.....Dell 8500(?) and he said it was upgradeable. I was doubtful about it myself, but didn't take the time to investigate.

i believe the 8500 does have a daughterboard, but the fastest thing I think you can get is the Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo Dell used in the 8600.

You can get lots of cheap Dell laptop parts off ebay, take a look, might be worth fixing.
