Just like the title says, whenever I move the laptop even a little bit, the damn thing shuts down. I talked to Dell online support, and as my machine is out of warranty, their advice was

a.) Call out of warranty support

or

b.) tighten all of the screws

Thanks Dell.

Anyone else have this issue with their Dells?

sounds like its shorting out. like they said try tightening all screws, if that doesn't work start pressing on external access points to the mobo, like usb ports vga, com, etc and see if you can isolate the area where the short might be. if that works, open the machine up and see if you can insulate the problem point - assuming a short of course.

I've had the problem with my Latitude quite a few times (always had the mobo replaced). If you have 2 memory slots, try keeping one open, if the thing still locks up, switch to the other slot. The memory slots shorting out was my problem...

Yeah, could be a short if it just turns off. I swapped a PSU fan in my parent's power supply and forgot to screw back down the pcb board which caused it to turn off if it was accidentally kicked or moved.

That sounds about right, whever I tap the slot, the damn thing shuts off, I'll give it a go and let you know.
