cheapest on Newegg is $1299.

I imagine later this year, M.2 or mSATA will become more common place.

There is always this option: mSATA adapters

Some laptops have an Msata slot.

Very cheap but outdated

Thinkpads can be gotten around $600, and they come with an mSATA slot.

My Thinkpad x220 has an mSATA, and I got it for $700, but that was with about $60 of upgrades as well.

I picked up a Dell Vostro 3360 for pretty cheap from Dell Outlet with a coupon. You can have your pick for under $600, including Core i5 models. Note that if the system does NOT come with the mSATA drive, the retaining screw will be missing. For mine, I wedged a thin piece of foam between the cover and the drive, which effectively holds it in place.
