600+ HP Hennessey Challenger

StageLeft

No Lifer
Link

Was reviewed in C&D for March. 0-60 is 3.9, they said it's not really possible to keep traction halfway through second gear. The engine upgrade is, I think, about $30k to give the Challenger SRT an extra 190 horsepower. I think that thing looks spectacular, there is absolutely nothing unmanly about its appearance.

I am still surprised people give that a$$hole money.

And yeah, personally I'd stay away from Hennessey too.

why? i'm not familiar with the guy/shop except they make fast cars.

Wow... 30k on an upgrade? Why not just buy a better car for that price?
Cause this looks badass and the bonus is that every time it screws up on you you get to ship it back to Texas to get worked on.

He's boned several people out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Very bad businessman.

Well, that sounds convenient...

Fail. $30k for the upgrade? A stock Z06 will wipe the floor with it, and it doesn't have to serviced by a dickhead.

Yeah. I saw some threads over at Viper club about him. Why'd anyone want to do business with him?

It's the same reason people buy a GT500.

Well, a well-kept GT500 will eventually be a collector's item. 'Tuner' cars like these Hennessey are rarely as sought-after as limited manufacturer specials that are sold off dealer floors.

Color me surprised as well, but people do. Pretty amazing.

Because magazines love his stuff. Rich people with no brains read that and don't do any research, send the guy a check, and never receive product.
