I wonder if 100w power draw is minimum, average or peak? Previous rumors placed it at 150w peak draw.

I guess if we want twice the performance, we are gonna have to cough up more and more money. I'm not going that high. It's just too much. Just the other day the Highest end card was 400, and now it's just crazy.

If it truly were twice the performance, the price -might- be justified. I'm afraid it won't be though :(

You would think the highest cards would replace the cards prior to it, bumping the old ones down. Therefore, card prices would remain relatively static... Else cost would increase in a linear fashion and in the future we would be paying a lot more, and not due to inflation.

If this keeps happening, I might just have to go back to just consoles. Much cheaper, although I'd have to say goodbye to FPSs. :(

There ain't no way in hell I'm paying $600 for a video card. I thought I was insane to spend $350 on my 6800GT. As long as it runs BF2 and COD2 fine, I'll be good for at least 2 more years

If it says available June 21st, does this mean it will be for sale, or it will be paper launched?

$600?

I may have to drop another 6600GT in my rig in a year or so. Hopefully they will be dirt cheap by then and I can upgrade those with a 2nd gen value verson of the G70 or R520 further down the road.

The only way I can see my tune change is if performance per $ starts to make me smile, so far no luck.

Can't you use a keyboard and mouse with a console? I'm thinking the same thing.

If I had that much money, I would, certainly.

But I ain't rich.

So, no G70, and probably no R520 for me this year. It's getting ridiculous.

That's $775 CDN!! They can suck my caulk if they think I will pay nearly $800 for a flippin' video card. Not gonna happen.

Wow, all those people who rushed out and bought $600+ PE's and Ultras must be feeling really stupid now after reading this thread!

If that's what they say the MSRP is, then Newegg and other vendors will sell them much higher depending on demand at release.

Well, graphics cards are already expensive enough where game developers make their games with more thought to much less powered machines. I mean, $600 is absurd, especially when people may be factoring in PPU costs soon. Either way, it'll be a while before I buy a new card, so hopefully they might learn their lesson then.

Makes me think about the first weeks of X800 XL's availability. If I recall correctly, TigerDirect sold one for $550 Canadian, and also, on eBay, I think one went for $459.99 U.S.

It was crazy. And the demand was sky-high.

I don't even want to try to imagine how much will the first 7800's go for. Certainly between $100 to even $300 above MSRP.

After all, there IS people out there ready, and willing to pay that much for it.

i'm ready to buy now but to pay over the msrp seems pretty stupid to me. if supply is as ample as nvidia seems to be implying, then hopefully this will be the first card in a while that has actually sold for the msrp on the day of release.

So it's being released June 21st...Does this mean in-store availability or paper launch?

Hey, blame your fellow consumer for these prices. They sell at these prices because there are enough who would buy at these prices.

You don't think the BIOS will change from now and a year later. A different 6600GT will probably be available and you won't be able to upgrade.

Can't you use a keyboard and mouse with a console? I'm thinking the same thing.
It'll be different, Idon't if all consoles support that either.

$600? Enough clowns around here will buy them at that price. Its about the same price (and overall power draw) as a 6800GT SLI setup.
